La dimora
Un posto incantevole
The B&B Donna Elena is a family-owned palace dating back to the 1700s, which has preserved its charm and main features over the centuries. In 2015, a careful renovation was carried out, preserving the historical and architectural heritage of the building. The main goal of this renovation was not so much to create a commercial business, but rather to bring this palace back to life, as it holds a special history and importance for the family.
The five rooms at the B&B are spacious and roomy, with a floor area of about 30/45 square meters, and are characterized by painted vaulted ceilings, balconies, and windows. Some rooms retain the original flooring and walls, while the bathrooms have been modernized to offer maximum comfort to guests. The rooms are equipped with private facilities, ensuring privacy and convenience for visitors.
Even the kitchen area, which is not accessible to guests, is a piece of history: in fact, it dates back to the original period of the palace and retains the built-in cooking area and stoves with slots for inserting burning coal, used for cooking food.
The name “Donna Elena” is a tribute to a family aunt, Donna Elena Del Viscio, belonging to a well-known family from Vico del Gargano. In the 1950s, this house represented the “living room” of the town, frequented by the mayor, the pharmacist, and all the prominent people of Vico del Gargano’s social life. Hospitality and feeling at home are the fundamental values that B&B Donna Elena wants to convey to its customers, offering an authentic experience and a family atmosphere.
